“I Am My Sister’s Keeper: Mentoring with a Purpose”

Time:  1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Location:  Faculty Commons Multipurpose Classroom, Suite 26 Bluford Library

Description: Women STEM/SBS faculty (tenured, tenure-track and non-tenured) will receive informal mentoring, through an interactive networking and coaching session. The session will be facilitated by a panel of mentors/advisors (senior faculty and administrators) with the purpose of obtaining wisdom and guidance for successfully charting a path leading to advancement and leadership in higher-ed.

Prior to the workshop, mentees, will be asked to provide questions (related to career advancement, work-life balance, tenure & promotion, etc.) that they would like addressed during the session. The workshop will be a two-part session.

Part I. Informal Mentoring: Each mentor/advisor will engage with 2-3 mentees to provide informal mentoring/advising/coaching. Mentors/advisors will pose mentoring related questions, previously submitted by the mentees, to spark engagement to facilitate informal mentoring and coaching.

Part II. Networking: Mentees will have an opportunity to network with all mentors/advisors as well as their peers to foster relationships that could lead to a formal mentoring relationship.
