“I Am My Sister’s Keeper: Mentoring with a Purpose”

Time:  4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Location:  Cherry Hall, Room 111

 

Description:  Female STEM faculty (tenured, tenure-track and non-tenured) will receive informal mentoring, through an interactive networking and coaching session, provided by a panel of mentors/advisors (senior faculty and administrators) with the purpose of obtaining wisdom and guidance for successfully charting a path which leads to advancement and leadership in higher-ed.

 

Prior to the workshop, mentees, will be asked to provide questions (related to career advancement, work-life balance, tenure & promotion, etc.) that they would like addressed during the session.  The session will be broken into two parts.  Part I. Informal Mentoring: Each mentor/advisor will engage with 2-3 mentees to provide informal mentoring/advising/coaching.  Mentors/advisors to use questions previously submitted by the mentees to spark engagement to facilitate informal mentoring and coaching.  Part II. Networking: Mentees will have an opportunity to network with all mentors/advisors as well as their peers to foster relationships that could lead to a formal mentoring relationship.
